Megan Wery

Senior Associate, Education Innovation Ventures

Senior Associate Megan Wery supports the Education Innovation Ventures (EIV) program-related investments portfolio with her experience in impact measurement, early-stage impact investing and sustainability reporting. She is responsible for deal sourcing, due diligence and ongoing post-investment support for EIV’s investees.

Prior to joining ECMC Foundation, Megan was an investor at an impact-focused venture fund investing in early-stage technology companies focused on education, health and climate solutions. She worked closely with entrepreneurs to strategize how social and environmental impact could scale alongside financial returns. Megan’s passion for sustainability began when she started her career in civil engineering where her work included strategic planning and infrastructure design and construction for schools and university campuses in the San Franscico Bay Area. Today, she’s passionate about supporting sustainable business strategies that drive equal access to education and workforce entry, celebrate cultural diversity and take an integrated approach to addressing challenges for lasting impact.

Megan holds a Master of Science in sustainability management from the University of Toronto and a Bachelor of Science in civil engineering from Loyola Marymount University.

Why are you working at ECMC Foundation and committed to working toward improving higher education for underserved learners?

I grew up in a small town in Hawai’i where opportunities for education and economic mobility often felt limited by geography. Here at ECMC Foundation, I’m committed to finding innovative solutions that support learners and strengthen their sense of place and identity, regardless of whether they are able to pursue education near home or afar. I believe deeply in creating pathways that not only expand access and opportunity but also affirm students’ cultural identities and help them to thrive in their communities.
